Troubleshooting
The most common Qovern and Qlik messages, what causes each one and how to fix it.
Screen and button names are shown as they appear in the Qovern app in English. To switch the app language, open the account menu and choose Language.
First, check two things that solve most cases: Qovern’s service account is a member of the space with the right permission, and the inventory is synced (account menu, Sync apps and users).
Some headings below quote the message as the app shows it in Portuguese. When you use the app in English, you see the English text given right below the heading.
The reload ends with “No access after reload”
Cause: the reload triggered by Qovern runs as the service account. If it is not in the app’s Section Access, Qlik reloads the data but denies access at the end.
How to fix:
- for an app managed by Qovern, click Save and Apply Rules on the app’s Section Access screen. Qovern rewrites the Section Access tab in the script, which already includes the service account row, and reloads the app;
- for an app with Section Access written outside Qovern, add the service account as ADMIN to the rules in the script itself.
The reload fails with “File not found”
Cause: the script looks for the rules file in one space and it was stored in another. This happens when the app moved to another space, when the space was renamed or in apps provisioned before a fix.
How to fix: on the app’s Section Access screen, click Save and Apply Rules. Qovern publishes the file again and rewrites the script with the current space name. If the app moved to another space, Qovern warns you first: see the next items.
“Save and Apply Rules” fails with a 403 or permission error
Cause: the service account doesn’t have edit permission in the space where the file is stored.
How to fix: in Qlik, open the space, add the service account user (it has the OAuth client’s name) as a member with edit permission and save the rules again. If you chose another space under Section Access file space, the permission applies to that space.
“Este app mudou de espaço no Qlik”
In English: “This app moved to another space in Qlik after it came under management. An administrator needs to update the app’s space on this screen.”
Cause: the app was moved after it was put under management. Since the script reads the file from the current space, publishing to the old space would have no effect, and Qovern refuses.
How to fix: an administrator clicks Use the current Qlik space in the notice itself, and then Save and Apply Rules.
Qlik denies editing the script (“Access denied”)
Cause: the app still has an old Section Access applied, without Qovern’s service account.
How to fix: remove the old block from the script in Qlik, reload the app once and try again in Qovern.
I can’t create or edit reload schedules
Message: “The Qovern service account in Qlik must be an administrator of this app’s space to read and change schedules. Add it to the space and try again.”
Cause: the service account is not an administrator of the app’s space. Being TenantAdmin is not enough.
How to fix: in Qlik, give the service account the administrator role (or facilitator, in a managed space) in the app’s space.
I can’t grant access in a space
Message: “The Qovern service account in Qlik must be a facilitator of this space to manage access. Add it to the space and try again.”
Cause: the service account is not a facilitator of the space.
How to fix: on the Spaces screen, use Grant in this space (or Grant the N missing), if the service account has the TenantAdmin role. Otherwise, in Qlik, add the service account to the space as a facilitator.
“O service account precisa ter a função TenantAdmin”
In English: “The Qovern service account in Qlik needs the TenantAdmin role for this. Assign it in the Qlik admin and try again.”
Cause: inviting people, changing roles, disabling users and managing Qlik groups require the TenantAdmin role on the service account.
How to fix: a tenant administrator assigns the TenantAdmin role to the service account user in Qlik’s Administration. If you’d rather not grant that permission, do these tasks in Qlik itself: the rest of Qovern keeps working.
A new person or app doesn’t show up
Cause: the inventory hasn’t been updated yet. Users are synced every hour. Apps, in the full sync.
How to fix: use Sync apps and users in the account menu.
“… está no plano Pro” or “O plano Standard inclui até…”
In English: “This feature isn’t included in your plan.” or “You’ve reached your plan limit. Upgrade your plan to add more.”
Cause: the feature is not part of the current plan (for example, alerts, documentation and scheduling on Standard) or the plan limit was reached (10 managed apps, 5 controlled spaces, 1 person on Standard).
How to fix: see the limits in Introduction and change plans under Subscription and invoices, in the account menu.
“Este espaço não está entre os espaços controlados do seu plano”
In English: “This feature isn’t included in your plan.” On the Spaces screen, the space shows as not one of the controlled spaces.
Cause: on the Standard plan, only the spaces chosen as controlled are available in Qovern.
How to fix: in Spaces, use Control this space (up to 5) or move to the Pro plan. See Controlled spaces.
“Assine um plano para continuar usando o Qovern”
In English: “Your subscription isn’t active. Go to Subscription to continue.”
Cause: the subscription is waiting for the first payment or has ended.
How to fix: the administrator completes the payment on the Subscription screen. See Subscription and plans.
