Getting started
Create the account, activate the subscription, connect your Qlik Cloud tenant and bring apps and users into Qovern.
Screen and button names are shown as they appear in the Qovern app in English. To switch the app language, open the account menu and choose Language.
There are four stages, and Qovern’s Getting started screen tracks each one. Administrators also find this screen in the account menu (the circle with your initials, at the top right).
Create the account
- Go to app.qovern.cloud/criar-conta.
- Enter your name, email, password and company name, and accept the Terms of use and the Privacy policy.
- You sign in as the administrator of the new customer account.
If someone at your company already uses Qovern, ask for an invitation instead of creating another account: see Team and permissions.
Activate the subscription
After the first sign-in, Qovern takes you to the Subscription screen. Choose the Standard or Pro plan and complete the payment on Stripe (credit card). Access is released as soon as the payment is confirmed. The Enterprise plan is arranged with our team, through the Request a demo button on the website.
Create the OAuth client in Qlik
In Qlik Cloud, with a tenant administrator user:
- Open the Administration console and go to OAuth.
- Create a Machine-to-Machine (M2M) client and enable the user and administration scopes listed on the Getting started screen (there is a step-by-step video).
- Copy the client ID and the client secret. The secret is shown only once.
- Write down the tenant URL, in the format
https://<name>.<region>.qlikcloud.com.
Give the service account access to the spaces
The client creates a technical user (the service account) with the client’s name. It must be a member of every space Qovern will govern:
- to publish Section Access rules: edit permission in the space where the file is stored;
- to create and edit reload schedules: space administrator role (facilitator in managed spaces);
- to grant people access to the space: facilitator role.
Tip: being a tenant administrator (TenantAdmin) is not enough to write to spaces. The service account must be on each space’s member list. To invite people and manage Qlik groups, however, it does need the TenantAdmin role.
Shortcut: with the TenantAdmin role on the service account, Qovern adds it as a facilitator of the spaces for you, on the Spaces screen (Qovern’s access to spaces card). See Spaces.
Connect and sync
- On the Getting started screen, enter the tenant URL, the client ID and the client secret.
- Click Test connection and then Save connection.
- Click Sync apps and users. Qovern brings in apps, spaces, users and groups from Qlik.
Done: the inventory shows up in Apps and Users. Accesses, reloads and new people are then updated automatically in the background. To refresh the full inventory right away, use Sync apps and users in the account menu.
The next step is usually to put the first app under management: see Section Access.
Step-by-step guide on each screen
Want a guide to understand a screen? Almost every screen has a Walkthrough of this screen button at the top, next to the help ? (the same item is in the account menu). A little character shows up with balloons that explain each part of the screen. Click Next to move on, Back to review, and Skip or press Esc to stop. The keyboard arrows work too.
- The guide never opens by itself: it only starts when you ask. A small dot on the button means you haven’t finished the guide for that screen yet.
- Parts of the screen you can’t see (because of your role or plan) or that are still loading are skipped. If there is nothing to show, Qovern tells you.
App language
The app is in Portuguese, English and Spanish. The first time you sign in, it follows your browser’s language. To change it, open the account menu (the circle with your initials) and choose Language. The choice is stored in your account. Qovern’s emails are still in Portuguese.
